Shrimp Bycatch

Mission ->To illustrate the topic of “shrimp by-catch” to provoke thinking about our destructive fishing practices and unsustainable ways of seafood consumption.

For every pound of shrimp caught, up to 6 pounds of other species are discarded as incidental catch of unwanted or unsellable species known as “bycatch”. This doesn’t just include fish. Turtles, seabirds, sharks, rays, coral, whales, and other animals also suffer—greatly hurting the ocean’s ecosystem.

This poster was to bring attention the damage done to our oceans from the way we consume seafood. The piece was awarded by Coastal America at the National Geographic HQ in Washington, DC.
