Mission ->To reimagine the Camp Caldera’s camp sites and destinations as little miniatures.

For a quarter century, Caldera Arts has been a playground of creativity for youths in Portland, Oregon. Every season, they engage their members in projects that deepen their understanding of the wonders of the natural world.

I joined Watts to help create concept art for the production of their new 2020 campaign. The illustrations were used as talking points to keep everyone on the same page for presentations, model makers, camera crew, & animators. You must take a look at all the BTS photos below.

Brainstorm

Mindmapping the Base Camp
Like all my projects, I usually start with a mind map with the team.

Lake, Base Camp

Situated along the eastern shore of the lake, we have a little camp community where all the magic happens.

Everything starts here, the most crucial step is to lay out our thoughts. Every project starts out with endless possibilities. These brainstorms help to narrow down the dizzying amount of choices—otherwise, we’d be spinning for days.

Brain Mountain

Everybody wants to scale Brain Mountain. They say that when you get the top, one achieves a new understanding of themselves. I believe it.

Classroom

The students’ classroom, charmingly situated inside an acorn, was a delight for me to design. Like the other two environments, the production of the miniatures is truly stunning.
